History

Tooradin takes its name from the Aboriginal word “too-roo-dun”, which means “swamp monster”.

Tooradin had its beginnings in the 1870s, where it was a storage place for road construction materials. Over the next 20 years, Tooradin added an inn, store, post office and school.
