Roxburgh Park is 20 kilometres north of Melbourne’s central business district and its local government area is the City of Hume. This suburb in Victoria has a population of over 19,000.

History

Most of the area of Roxburgh Park was formerly agricultural land. It wasn’t until the 1990s when the area was developed as a suburban town. Roxburgh Park was promoted through TV commercials around the same time. The idea was to make everyone aware that the suburb had now become a great balance of residential and industrial land.

The development of the area continues to this day. Roxburgh Park is now home to an Islamic centre, retirement village and child care centres among other things.

Lifestyle and Entertainment

Roxburgh Park has two big shopping centres and lots of fast food chain outlets. One of the shopping centres features over 70 specialist shops. Five supermarkets are also located in the suburb including Aldi, Woolworths and Coles.

The area also has an Australian rules football team that competes in the Essendon District Football League.
