Ringwood North is located 25km north-east of the Melbourne Central Business District. It has a population of 9,657 according to the 2011 census.

History

Ringwood North was settled in the mid-1800s and followed the sale of land in the 1850s. A railway from Hawthorn to Lilydale passing through Ringwood North was built in 1882 and led to the suburb becoming even more developed.

The area was home to a sizable number of orchards for about a century from the 1860s onwards. Ringwood North Post Office was opened in 1920.

Lifestyle and Entertainment

Ringwood North is home to three separate primary schools, as well a Catholic high school. The North Ringwood Saints are an Australian Rules football team in the area. They are part of the Eastern Football League.

Ringwood North features abundant parks and natural beauty. Wonga Park, in particular, is a great spot to view the famous Yarra River from. The area is known for having produced a good number of famous Australian Rules footballers.
