Narre Warren is a suburb of Victoria with a population of over 25,800. It is 38 kilometres south-east of Melbourne’s central business district and home to Australia’s second largest shopping centre.

History

Narre Warren Post Office opened in 1869 and was renamed Narre Warren North in 1900. It was located on what is now Heatherton Road. The Narre Warren Railway Station Post Office was also renamed in 1886.

In more recent years, Narre Warren has grown from a semi-rural residential town into a major housing area.

Lifestyle and Entertainment

With the second largest shopping centre in the country, Narre Warren is now a popular suburb. Locals enjoy indulging in retail therapy. The town also contains a shopping strip around the railway station.

The area is home to many schools including Fountain Gate Secondary College.
