Welcome to Korumburra, VIC

Korumburra is a town on the South Gippsland Highway. It forms part of the South Gippsland Shire local government area. It’s 120km east of Melbourne, and has a population of over 4,300.

History

Gaining a post office in 1889 and a railway station in 1891, Korumburra developed well over the next few decades. Pioneers like Antonio Radovick (the “father of Korumburra”), played a big part in helping the town to blossom, as did the discovery of coal nearby. Dairy and beef became major earners, as did tourism later on.

Lifestyle and Entertainment

As the “”Heritage Centre of South Gippsland””, Korumburra holds many attractions. From the art gallery to the Olympic Swimming Pool, there’s plenty to get stuck into. Korumburra’s biggest draw is the 12-hectare Coal Creek Community Park and Museum. This outdoor centre features an entire mock village, which portrays the growth of the town from the 1870s to the 1920s.
