Turners Beach has a population of 1,595 according to the 2011 census. It is located on the north coast of Tasmania, and is right between the cities Devonport and Ulverstone.

History

The first known European settlement of Turners Beach occurred in 1840 and was led by James Fenton. Turners Beach was originally called Scotts Beach but was renamed in honour of Glen Turner in 1961. Turner was part of the Ulverstone Council at the time.

The Turners Beach Post Office was opened in 1956.

Lifestyle and Entertainment

The Growers and Makers Market at Turners Beach showcases many local producers and businesses. It is held on the last Sunday of each month and provides a highlight for this small community.

The beach itself has been seen to have platypus, eels and brown trout living in it. Turners Beach also has multiple sporting clubs for cricket, Australian Rules football, and lawn bowls.
