Scottsdale is a north-eastern town in Tasmania. It is located approximately 22km from Bridport. It comes under the Dorset Council local government area. It has a population of 2,461.
History
The town is named after a surveyor called James Scott. Scott surveyed the land in 1855, and stated that it had very good soil and a mild climate.
The Defence Nutrition Research Centre was set up in Scottsdale in 1958.
Lifestyle and Entertainment
Scottsdale is a big farming area. Potato and dairy farming are practised here. Other industries include poppy cultivation, mining and pine plantations.
A popular place to go if you like the outdoors is Northeast Park. You can camp here for free for a week, and pay for showers. There are also BBQ facilities. The town itself has shops and other services such as a public library.
