Exeter is a town in Tasmania. It is located 24km from Launceston in a northerly direction. It is quite small with a population of 389.

History

In 1861, the Exeter Methodist Church was finished. It is made of wood, and is Tasmania’s oldest Methodist church.
Matthew Brady (1799-1826) was a bushranger. He used to go to Brady’s Lookout near Exeter to spy on people underneath and choose his victims. He hardly ever stole from women.

Lifestyle and Entertainment

The area around Exeter is rural farming land. It supports a variety of agriculture including dairy and beef farming, sheep farming and fruit.

Exeter has a secondary school called the Exeter High School. The school has three different houses called Lenah, Oonah and Quoiba. There is a reward system with points being given to students for activities such as swimming.
