FAQs

  • Do I need a referral from my doctor to see a podiatrist?

No, not generally. If you are presenting to one of our clinics as a private patient, you do not require a general practitioner referral. However, should you attend Blue Mountains Podiatry as part of the Enhanced Primary Care (EPC) program, you will be required to bring your GP referral letter to you initial consultation.

  • Does Medicare cover podiatry?

Yes, but only if you have an Enhanced Primary Care Plan (EPC) referral from your doctor. To be eligible you will need to have a chronic illness. Please talk to your doctor to see if you are eligible.

  • Do we see children’s feet?

Yes, at Blue Mountains Podiatry we specialize in assessing and treating children’s feet and any related problems. Children can have a wide range of foot related issues which can lead to pain or alter the way they walk. We pride ourselves on identifying any underlying factors that may be contributing to these problems early, and take all necessary steps to eliminate such factors in order to minimize the chances of future complications.

  • How do I know if I need orthotics or not?

Orthotics have the potential to assist with a variety of different conditions, however, the need for orthotics can only be accurately determined after a thorough biomechanical assessment with one of our expert therapists at Blue Mountains Podiatry.

  • Does my private health insurance cover podiatry?

Yes, the majority of private health funds will provide rebates for podiatry services.

  • Does Blue Mountains Podiatry see department of veteran’s affairs patients?

Yes, DVA patients with a gold card are eligible. DVA patients are required to bring a referral letter from your treating Doctor to the initial consult.

  • Do I need to make an appointment or can I just turn up?

All consultations are by appointment only.

  • What should I bring to my appointment?

To assist us in providing you with the best possible podiatry care, it is helpful if you bring a selection of shoes that you wear on a regular basis. Additionally, please bring any referrals, x-rays or scans that you feel are relevant to your presentation.
