Signs of a failed septic tank soak away:
- Septic tank effluent surfacing on your land,
- Strong or bad odours coming from the septic tank or drains,
- Pollution of nearby ditches or streams with effluent,
- Slow flushing of toilets,
- Gurgling in the drains,
- Ground movement (dips) near the septic tank or soak away drain field,
- Toilet overflowing,
- Overflow at washing machine hook-up,
- Overflows into shower or bath when the sink is discharged,
- Drain inspection chambers have standing effluent in them. These should be empty.
Septic Tank Maintenance
All septic tanks require emptying ONCE A YEAR. They only hold 12 months sludge storage and if sludge starts to empty into the soak away soil, it very quickly blocks the air spaces (porosity) in the soil, the effluent cannot soak away, you suffer a soak away failure and the septic tank fills up, backing up the system. Most Septic Tanks are very poorly maintained and I hate to think how many Clients have told me (when their system has failed) that septic tanks never need emptying!

Does someone need to be on location to accept delivery of the bin?
It is preferable to have someone on location when the bin is delivered, but if this is not possible, please make we are aware ahead of time.

Why should I get a drain camera inspection after my drain is unblocked?
Unless your drain is camera inspected after it has been unblocked there is no way for the plumber to know if they have cleared the drain completely all that they know for sure is that they have pushed past the blockage. A camera inspection shows if the blockage has been cleared properly or if there is any underlying problem in the drain.
