FAQs

  • How do I know if I am eligible for residential care?

To be eligible for residential care, you first need to be assessed by the Aged Care Assessment Team (ACAT) in your local area.

  • Who can refer you to ACAT?

Anyone can refer you to the ACAT providing you have consented to the referral. Family members, carers, your doctor, and community workers can all refer. You can also refer yourself.

  • How do I contact ACAT?

The Aged Care Assessment Teams are located regionally across Australia.

  • Does it cost anything to place my name on the waiting list?

    No.

  • How are applicants assessed for future vacancies?

We assess a person's need for residential care based on your needs and priorities at the time of admission. For this reason we will contact you regularly to see how you are managing at home and to obtain information about your current care needs and circumstances. This is also our way of keeping an up to date waiting list, so that we are offering our vacancies to the most appropriate person.

  • Am I able to visit the facilities prior to my admission?

Yes, in fact once we have received your application, we actively encourage you to contact the individual facilities to meet with the manager and discuss your care needs. Many of our facilities hold tours that run on a weekly basis. Another option is to book respite so that you get to experience life in an aged care facility first-hand.

  • How long do I have to wait for a vacancy?

Unfortunately it is difficult to determine how long you may need to wait for a vacancy. Through our process of maintaining regular contact with you, we can assure you that we will endeavour to meet your accommodation needs as soon as possible. We are also able to offer vacancies within all our facilities with the option of transferring to your preferred facility at a later date.
